Learning path
QI Lead, Advanced
For QI coordinators, practice facilitators, program managers and quality leads at health centers, hospitals and nonprofits who have run a project and now run the improvement system. Eight short modules: turn strategy into the year's few projects and a review calendar, get a number you can trust out of the EHR, read a control chart, check who a change misses, work with clinicians when you are not one, run a working session that ends with a result, connect your work to the outcomes a board or fund
By the end, you will be able to:
- Turn the year's goals into about three projects, a monitoring list and a review calendar, and stop a project well
- Write a data definition and a one-page data request, and check a report against the chart before you trust it
- Read a control chart: common cause, special cause, the rules, and when to redraw the limits
- Check whether a change works for every group you serve, and test a fix for the group it misses
- Bring data and method to clinicians, find a clinical champion, and share a project as a dyad
- Run a 60 to 90 minute working session that ends with something made
- Link a project to the outcome a board, funder, HRSA or payer cares about, and say it in their words
- Coach a team through its first PDSA cycle, then step back so they run the next one
